1. Hidden Hardwired Appliances
Many devices are wired directly into junction boxes without accessible plugs: ducted or split air conditioning units, extractor hoods, induction hobs, electric roller shutters, false-ceiling LED transformers, intercoms and TV antenna amplifiers.
2. Neutral-to-Earth Contact Inside the Wall (Trips Even With Switches Off)
Wall switches only cut the Live wire; the blue Neutral wire remains permanently connected back to the RCD. If a water leak, damp wall or ceiling light screw pinches the Neutral wire against the Earth wire or metal chassis, the RCD will trip even with all lights switched off.
3. Mechanically Broken RCD Switch
Flip ALL individual MCB breakers down so nothing leaves the RCD, and try lifting the RCD lever alone. If it still drops immediately, the RCD itself is broken and needs replacement.

What if pressing the 'T' (Test) button on the RCD does nothing?
If power is on and pressing the 'T' button does not trip the switch immediately, the RCD mechanism is seized and will not protect you from electric shock. It must be replaced urgently.
