What is Trap (Siphon)?
The trap is the S or U-shaped piece you see under sinks and basins. It works by always retaining a small amount of water that acts as a seal against gases and odors from the common drain. When it gets clogged or leaks, it is noticed immediately.
When you encounter it in an emergency & typical cost
It is the easiest piece to replace yourself (€8-20 at any hardware store, 5 minutes). But if there is a leak past the trap, it is a plumber's job.
